Scope and purpose

This Privacy Policy explains how Dany Turgeon Tax Services Inc. (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information in connection with (a) your use of www.danyturgeontaxservices.ca (the “Website”) and (b) the delivery of our tax consulting services. This policy is intended to meet applicable Canadian requirements, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where relevant, Québec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (as modernized by Law 25).

How we collect information

We may collect personal information through:

When you contact us (e.g., forms, messages, inquiries).
When you browse the Website (technical and usage data).
Cookies and similar technologies required for core Website operations (see Section 7). Wix explains that essential cookies may be placed automatically to enable certain features.

b) Outside the Website (service delivery):

Email, phone, meetings (in-person or online), and document exchanges necessary for the engagement.

b) Service-related information (tax consulting)

Information necessary to analyze your situation and provide tax consulting services (e.g., corporate information, structures, transactions, documents provided by the client or the accounting firm). This may include sensitive information; where required, we will seek express consent and apply enhanced safeguards.

c) Technical and usage information

IP address, browser type, pages viewed, date/time of access, diagnostics and security logs, to the extent available through our hosting and Website features. Québec guidance recommends clearly describing these categories when collected through a website.

Purposes and consent

We use personal information to:

Respond to inquiries and communicate with you.
Deliver our services (analysis, planning, recommendations, agreed deliverables).
Administrative operations and legal compliance (record-keeping, security, fraud prevention, legal obligations).
Website operation, security, and improvement.

Consent: Under PIPEDA, consent must be meaningful (individuals should understand the nature, purposes, and consequences of the collection/use/disclosure). Québec law may require express consent in certain cases, including for sensitive information.

Access, sharing, and service providers

Internal access: Only individuals who need the information to perform their duties may access it.

Wix platform: Our Website is hosted and operated on Wix. As a result, certain information (especially technical/operational data) may be processed by Wix and its subprocessors to provide hosting, security, and core features. Wix publishes an up-to-date list of its subprocessors and locations.

Legal disclosure: We may disclose information where required by law or to protect our legal rights.

No third-party marketing pixels (current state): As of the effective date, we do not use third-party connected tools on the Website such as GA4, Google Ads conversion tracking, Meta Pixel, or similar advertising pixels. If that changes, we will update this policy and implement appropriate consent mechanisms when required. (This does not prevent Wix essential cookies required for Website operation.)

Cookies and similar technologies

The Website may use essential cookies (e.g., security, load balancing, performance, preferences, and feature enablement). Wix explains that essential cookies may be placed automatically and that non-essential cookies can be managed through consent tools depending on Website configuration.

How to manage: You can manage cookies through your browser settings (block/delete/limit). If a consent banner is enabled on the Website, you can also adjust preferences there.

Profiling/identification/location: If we implement technologies that identify you, locate you, or profile you (as understood under Québec rules), we will clearly disclose them and, where required, ensure they are off by default and only enabled based on your choice.

Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above and as required by applicable legal/professional obligations, then securely destroy or anonymize it.

Safeguards

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including administrative controls (limited access) and technical measures (account protection and hosting-related security controls). Québec guidance recommends including a brief description of safeguards in the privacy policy.

Transfers outside Québec / outside Canada

Our technology providers (including Wix) may process certain data outside Québec and/or outside Canada depending on their infrastructure and subprocessors. Wix publishes information on subprocessors and locations.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request:

Access to and a copy of your personal information.
Corrections to inaccurate information.
Withdrawal of consent where applicable (which may limit some services).
Québec guidance highlights the importance of explaining these rights and the complaint process.
